The Mummy Collector

This one is creepy. This Russian dude named Anatoly Moskvin, who proclaimed himself a “necropolyst”, was a college professor and journalist fluent in over a dozen languages. He also still lived with his parents, robbed graves, and collected dead bodies, turning them into “dolls.” When he was arrested in 2011, authorities discovered 29 such dolls in his apartment (that he shared with his parents, remember!), fashioned from the bodies of girls ranging in age from 3 to 25, inside which he had placed music boxes or toys. He claims that he was forcibly “married” to a dead girl when he was 13 years old and that this led to his unholy obsession with dead bodies

Oh, and he also once slept in a coffin. But that’s tame compared to everything else he did.

Now you may be wondering how it is that Anatoly’s parents never noticed that he was bringing home and keeping dead bodies, mummifying them by stuffing them with rags and wrapping their heads with pantyhose to which he affixed button eyes, decorating their faces with makeup. “We saw these dolls but we did not suspect there were dead bodies inside. We thought it was his hobby to make such big dolls and did not see anything wrong with it,” said his mother. Okay, so that makes sense. The parents were batshit crazy, too. Just not as crazy as their son.

Anatoly may get out of the insane asylum before too long. He told the families of his victims not to bother reburying them, as he would simply dig them up again at the first opportunity. “You abandoned your girls,” he said to them. “I brought them home and warmed them up.” Yeah, I bet he did. Sicko. Why in the unholy hell would they ever let this guy out?!
