In a surprising move, series regular Claire Holt has exited The Originals before the end of the first season, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Rebekah, our favorite little vampire sister, left N’orleans last night because her alter ego, Claire Holt has decided to leave ‘The Originals’ show. CW has not killed off her character, leaving fans hoping for her return to the show or ‘Vampire Diaries’ soon, but we will have to wait and see. Claire Holt, you will be very missed! We wish you best, and a speedy return to the conflicted vampire character we have come to love so much. Who will miss Rebekah?

and then I just read another story that said the executive producer julie plec and warner brothers tv was behind this deciding that Rebekah’s storyline had taken a direction making her character non-essential for the series going forward. but that they have not ruled her out as a guest star

I hope she returns she is a fantastic actress&her loss will be felt on the show. she&haley act very well together perhaps due to their familiarity from another series
