Producers of the FX series THE STRAIN, which returns to television sets around the world this coming Sunday (Huzzah! Suck on it, John Logan! You can’t cheat me out of THIS one!), have gotten creative with their marketing for the show’s third season. (See, Logan, this is how you do a third season!) There was the epic Rap, “Vamps Boom.” There was the recruiting video wherein series villain Thomas Eichorst seeks to convince the skeptical that submission to the Master really is a good thing in the long run. There were the 90s-vibe Mortal Kombat-esque faux video games featuring digitized versions of series regulars Kevin Durand (who plays my favorite HUMAN character on the series), Corey Stoll, David Bradley, and Rupert Penry-Jones (who plays my favorite character, Quinlan). And now there are MORE of the faux-vintage game promos, these featuring The Master and Eichorst. I think The Master looks the coolest in video game form out of the bunch.
Enjoy these whilst you can, mi amigos, as they have kill dates attached to them. I take this to mean that they will disappear after a certain time. That’s a shame. They’re fun. Maybe they will live on in bootlegged copies floating around in cyberspace. All you vampire-lovin’ hackers should get right on that. (Not that I’d ever encourage anyone to engage in copyright infringement, no way. But hell, they’re for publicizing the show, aren’t they? Let ‘em continue to publicize!)
