The Ultimate ‘Deadliest Warrior’ Matchup – Vampires VS Zombies

Deadliest Warrior is a show found over on the Spike network, and well, they’re really switching things up this season. The show is about which warriors are the deadliest (obviously) and what they do is take information on historical or modern warriors and their weapons, then they use the info to determine which of them is the “deadliest” based upon tests performed during each episode. Usually the show sticks to real historical figures, but this summer they’re delving into the world of fiction and doing episode were they test who is deadliest – vampires or zombies.

From Spike’s website:

“Vampires! Zombies! From Dracula to Romero and everyone in between, these two creatures have terrorized and tantalized pop culture for decades. Finally, Spike TV will answer what we’ve all been wondering: who would win in a fight? Find out by watching the new season of the hit series, Deadliest Warrior, coming Summer 2011!

The third season of Deadliest Warrior will step outside the confines of history in a special fantasy episode featuring two icons of horror: vampires and zombies. Experts on the undead from both film and fiction will lend their expertise on this hotly discussed topic, as Team Zombie and Team Vampire join Deadliest Warrior regulars Richard “Mack” Machowicz, Geoff Desmoulin and Dr. Armand Dorian to make their case for who is, indeed, the deadliest.

One thing is for certain; this will be a matchup that Warrior fans won’t soon forget!”

While the idea sounds cool enough, I am curious as to how they’re going to pull this one off. I mean, zombies are pretty straight forward, they are almost always the same in nearly every book and movie. But there are a shit ton of different types of vampires, so how will they figure out which is deadliest? Think about it, some vampires in fiction are pretty weak and humanlike, they don’t have kickass powers or anything other than bloodlust. But then there are other vamps that kick some serious ass, they have a whole plethora of amazing supernatural abilities. So how will Deadliest Warrior accurately determine who is deadlier? What type of vampire will the pit against the zombies? I’m guessing that they’re going to go the stereotypical route with the fangs, hatred for garlic, stake in the heart and so on.

What do you guys think of this upcoming episode? Who do you think will win, vampires or zombies?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  1. I think it’s going to be quite badass but your right there is gonna be some trouble I’m a huge fan of vampires.com, werewolves.com, and deadliest warrior so this made my fucking day =) there going to run into a problem with testing the weapons as there really aren’t any and the abilities could count as weapons but how would they test such things come on honestly but if they can figure that one out I’m all for that shit 100000000%

  2. I would say use the Twilight vampires.

    1. Super fast – Way to fast for even zombies that can run to catch.
    2. Skin hard as stone – Even if a zombie caught up to one of these vampires and bit them the teeth wouldn’t even dint their skin.
    3. Strength – If a Twilight vampire uses even a good fraction of their strength against a zombies head, the zombies head would explode.

  5. I am a full blooded werewolf fan, but I would say Vamps have it in the bag. I would also use the modern/old school vampire. You know, Garlic, Stake through the heart, Holy water, stuff like that. Here are reasons why Vamps would kick butt.

    1. They are insanely fast, strong, and overall more fit than zombies.
    2. Zombies are weak to salt. If they eat it, they get smart, and go back to the grave.
    3. Zombies are slow, and basically just reanimated skin and bones. No brains here!
Although Vamps are cool, they have downsides.

    1. The Zombie has no blood, so long battles may reduce them to mutiny against their own kind.
    2. A stake through the heart kills, but regular wood works good. The vampire could be chasing the zombie, when all of a sudden, they trip and get impaled by a branch. Hey, they’re moving at least 50 MPH, that’s gotta hurt!

So basically, vampires would kick the zombies undead reanimated ass.

    1. Um, where in the world did you get this info? No offense but it sounds like you just pulled it out of your imagination.

  6. Vamps should win via strength and speed, even against running zombies. Dracula and Carmilla could move around in daylight. It wasn’t until Hollywood got into the act that vamps were burned by sunlight. And a cross or Holy water would have no effect on a Jewish vamp. Vamps have at least one lifetime of knowledge to build on, many have centuries. There’s just not enough on the zombie’s plate except for their mob mentality.
