The Vampire Diaries: Preview for ‘Daddy Issues’

There’s a YouTube clip attached somewhere here, –I haven’t decided where to put it just yet. And, the plan is to discuss what goes on in Ep. 13, titled ‘Daddy Issues’, for obvious reasons, if you saw the end of Ep. 12, ‘The Descent’, already. If not, SPOILER ALERT!, but her Daddy, Johnathan Gilbert comes to town. What’s seriously screwed up, is that when they’re re-introduced, courtesy of Stefan, she calls him ‘Uncle John’, and all I have to say about that is “LOL”. After what  Johnathan Gilbert put everyone through, who cares if his feelings are hurt? It was hard summoning up some sympathy for him getting his fingers cut off, and being stabbed by Katherine.

Anyway, I forgot to post the preview/trailer for the next episode of the show, which I NEVER do… (Well, maybe sometimes, I just didn’t get yelled at for it this time). Anyway, as we move into the second half of the season, I can’t help but want to devote a lot of time to the unrolling plot. Here’s some info on the next episode from DreadCentral:

Johnathan Gilbert’s (guest star David Anders) return to Mystic Falls comes as an unhappy surprise to Elena (Nina Dobrev), Jenna (Sara Canning), and Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Caroline (Candice Accola) lets Stefan (Paul Wesley) know about her conversation with Tyler (Michael Trevino), and Stefan does his best to reach out to a confused and conflicted Tyler.

Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) comforts Bonnie (Katerina Graham) after her disturbing conversation with Jonas (guest star Randy Goodwin). When Jules (guest star Michaela McManus) takes a hostage, the situation quickly escalates into a violent confrontation. Zach Roerig and Matt Davis also star.”

That drives me nuts. What the hell is the deal with all the names in parentheses? God, yes, we know who plays everyone by now, damn it. You can barely read it without being distracted by every single actor’s name in parentheses. By the time you get to the end of the caption, it’s like “Wait, what? Let me read it again,” and on and on, in an endless loop of crazy. Anyway. The video is really freaky. It looks like Tyler turns on Caroline, and somehow they manage to lock her up in a cage. Meanwhile, Damon is seriously hating Uncle John, mostly because of his fierce protectiveness for Elena. But it also looks like Damon gets all freaky with someone too… not Elena. Ew.

  4. Just saw the episode. I agree with the author on myspideysenseistingling.wordpress.com in that I ask whether the writers want to make Tyler the next badd ass or the greatest redeemed. Not that the characters actions were completely “out of character” but I really wonder where the writers want to go with that. I also wonder why that plea of Mason to Jeremy simply dissapeared, that seems out of character for Jeremy.
