The Vampire Diaries Season 3 Promo Revealed!

The cast and crew for The Vampire Diaries revealed some goodies at San Diego Comic-Con 2011, including a Season 3 promo video! Yes, that’s some excited news right? Well, it’s really not as great as it sounds. Watch the promo below and you’ll understand why.

What a bunch of teases! The entire “promo” (if you can even call it that) was simply a recap of everything that happened in Season 2! They didn’t even show any new scenes, just the old ones we have already seen. Rawr! All they did was flash a few big Season 2 moments and speculated on what’s to come – which is exactly what every Vampire Diaries fan has already done. Lame.

Luckily The Vampire Diaries panel at Comic-Con reveled more than that pitiful trailer, but not much more. This year’s panel was huge, with thousands of fans all listening to what the cast and producers had to say. At Comic-con this year was:

  • Joseph Morgan (Klaus)
  • Nina Dobrev (Elena/Katherine)
  • Ian Somerhalder (Damon)
  • Paul Wesley (Stefan)
  • Candice Accola (Caroline)
  • Kevin Williamson (executive producer)
  • Julie Plec (executive producer)

Some goodies were revealed during the panel Q and A, but of course, they were still pretty hush hush on what’s to come. Here’s a few snippets from the panel:

Have we seen the last of Elijah?
Kevin Williamson: “Oh no!”

Will Damon be looking for Stefan?
Ian Somerhalder: “Damon’s kind of not to happy about the way life has worked out for him at this point.”
Kevin Williamson: “It’s one of those reluctant hero stories.”

How dark will Stefan get?
Paul Wesley: “I don’t know… I think the whole Ripper Stefan thing is really interesting.”

Why does Klaus want Stefan so badly?
Joseph Morgan: “I think we’re going to find a lot more about the motive and history of him taking Stefan this season.”

Which is more fun, Elena or Katherine?
Nina Dobrev: “I get the best of both worlds… They’re both so much fun… They’re both so challenging and so awesome. They will kill me one day… I can get away with a lot more when I’m Katherine on set.”

Where did Katherine go?
Julie Plec: “She’s in Hawaii, waiting for the very special Hawaiian episode maybe.”

Will Elena and Damon date in the next season?
Julie Plec: “Katherine seems to know more about what it’s like to care about both Salvatore brothers… She’s not saying it for no reason.”

Yeah, so they all kept quiet on what’s to come. In a previous interview Julie did say that Elena’s relationship with Damon will become increasingly complicated during Stefan’s absence.

“Over the course of the season, Elena will be struggling with a deep, deep attraction for Damon,” Plec said. “That’s going to be a big problem for her.”

What do you guys think of the promo and the panel Q and A?

  1. i cant wait for season 3 to premier! but the ‘promo’ was so unhelpful, all it did was remind me of all the questions i had at the end of season 2. and the Q and A didnt help reveal anything new, which is so annoying when waiting for the new season.
