The Vampire’s Assistant Now on DVD

If you’re like me, and thought that The Vampire’s Assistant looked kind of cool when it first came out, but also kind of corny, then you’ll be pleased to know that the movie was released on DVD and Blu-Ray this week.

While the movie looked like it had its funny bits, and I love the talented actors that are in it such as John C. Reilly, Salma Hayek, and Chris Massoglia, it just didn’t look like it was worth going to the theater for. Nope, there was no need for me to rush on this one. I would happily wait until I could sit at home and eat as much free popcorn as I wanted while in my jammies. I’ll be buying the DVD though, the Blu-Ray is still a little rich for my blood at more than $36 (I’m still not excited enough about the movie to pay that much to see it.) But unlike so many movies that are starting to come out today, it seems that I won’t be missing much.

Both the DVD and the Blu-Ray version of the film include pretty much the same bonus features. Which is good, because I’m a huge dork and I actually really like the bonus features section on most movies. While the Blu-Ray does have some extra deleted scenes and an interactive area that you can activate by hooking up the Blu-Ray to your computer, you’ll be getting pretty much the same thing buying either of them.

The movie looks like it will be entertaining enough. There’s certainly enough dark humor to go around and who doesn’t love a good battle between good and evil vampires? While this wasn’t a vampire film that I rushed out to the theaters to see, it’s certainly one that I’ll be running to grab that DVD!

  5. I actually really liked it. While not a fan of Shan’s writing style the filmmakers did a really great job of adapting the story to film. I still think of chimpanzees with fangs when ever I hear the word Vampaneze and there are other things I find silly but all in all as a film it was quite enjoyable.
