Thoughts On WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS: THE TRIAL
I just watched it. I’m still grinning. Dave “Drax the Destroyer” Batista. The stars of the original WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS movie. Tilda Swinton. Wesley Snipes, getting that one last chance to portray Blade. And Paul freakin’ Reubens. Wow. Just wow.
References to Keifer Sutherland, and Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. If they’d had Robert Pattinson actually appear on the show, all glittering, and had all the other vampires making fun of him, they would have won, oh, everything. The Internet, television, everything.
I’d actually forgotten that Danny Trejo played a vampire in FROM DUSK TILL DAWN. He is first and foremost Machete to me. Still amazing to see him, though. And I love that it was Colin Robinson who ended up saving the day.
How can they possibly top this for the season finale? Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement have promised that they have something special in store for us, and that they didn’t, at the risk of using a crude euphemism, “blow their load” with this latest episode. I’m inclined to believe them.
I wouldn’t want them to overdo it, and I seriously doubt this would even be a possibility, but I sure hope we get to see the Vampire Council again at some point.
