The infamous Tim Burton recently did an interview with NYMag in which he spoke (briefly) about Twilight and his two upcoming vampire films – Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Interested in what the man had to say? Then read on.
Your next two movies are Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. They’re both about vampires?
Sort of. I wouldn’t say they’re about vampires. In Dark Shadows, there’s a character that happens to be a vampire.
How are you going to turn a soap opera into a movie?
We’ll see. I don’t really know until I start it. I’m trying to find a certain tone, and we don’t know if we get it until we start it.
Johnny Depp will be in both of them?
No, just one. Dark Shadows.
How do you feel about Twilight and True Blood?
I haven’t seen them. I saw part of one of the Twilights.
What did you think?
I think some things are just a phenomenon and that’s okay.

Like I said – brief. You would think a director and producer would speak a little more on their upcoming projects, but apparently not. Well, no worries Dear Readers, here’s the dish on Burton’s upcoming vamp flicks.
Dark Shadows
In June 2009, Johnny Depp promised fans that Dark Shadows was going to shift into production, despite years of delay. Dark Shadows is a beloved soap opera from the 1960s featuring all sorts of supernatural beasties, such as vampires, werewolves, zombies and more. Tim Burton is currently in the process of creating a movie based on the show, with Depp signed on as the lead actor, playing the role of vampire Barnabas Collins.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
Bestselling author Seth Grahame-Smith is the man behind the popular novel Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, so popular in fact that it’s being made into a movie. The film, which is being directed by Helmer Timur Bekmambetov and produced by Tim Burton, is still searching for a cast. In spite of that, it already has a theater release date set – June 22, 2012.
Personally, I am more excited for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter because I have read it and loved it. As much as I love the idea of Johnny Depp as a vampire I am so bored with the whole Depp/Burton mix. Well honestly, I am bored with Burton period.
What about you guys, which film are you more excited for?
– Moonlight
Dark Shadows! YESS! Vampire-hunters in 19th century… can be good!
