TV Review: NOS4A2 Season Two Episode Six

“The Hourglass”

Damn. The character just this episode became interesting—the Hourglass guy, I mean—and they killed him off. Maybe. We didn’t see him die, so he might show back up again. I kinda hope so now. I wasn’t crazy about the character, but now that they’ve fleshed him out, he’s a good villain.

I loved seeing Maggie kick ass this episode. I just knew she was gonna get herself killed, but nope. The girl can take care of herself. Next to Charlie, I’d say she’s become my favorite character on the show.

Interesting to see Bats’ father Craig show back up as a ghost this episode. It makes sense that he’d be haunting the Wraith, since he died inside of it. And I like that Charley can’t see or hear him. Lots of storytelling potential there, if Craig’s ghost sticks around, always interfering with Charley’s scheming while Charley isn’t even aware he’s there. I don’t know why they wasted the time, money, and effort on giving Craig the burn makeup, though. Maybe to remind the audience who he is? Personally I don’t think it was necessary.

What got me most excited about this week’s episode, though, was the preview of *next* week’s! Bing is gonna turn on Charley! Bad move, Bing. When a Renfield turns on his Dracula, it never works out well—for the Renfield.

Lastly, when are we gonna get some NOS4A2 toys? Action figures, Funkos, and we’ve got to get a replica of the Wraith!
