Twilight: The Graphic Novel

It’s true – the four novels, movies, video games and more weren’t enough for the hungry fans, so a Twilight graphic novel has been made. Now, if you follow my writing you know I’m not a huge fan of Twilight, but I admit that I’m actually interested in this graphic novel, it looks beautiful.

Twilight: The Graphic Novel is illustrated by the talented Korean artist, Young Kim, who worked with Stephenie Meyer every step of the way. The novel will be published on March 16 and is said to be black and white with bits of color mixed in. According to the publisher is it “a rare fusion of Asian and western comic techniques.”

On the cover we see Bella laying on the grass which is from the dream that first inspired Meyer to write Twilight. “In my dream, two people were having an intense conversation in a meadow in the woods. One of these people was just your average girl. The other person was fantastically beautiful, sparkly, and a vampire,” she said. “I stayed in bed, thinking about the dream. I was so intrigued by the nameless couple’s story that I hated the idea of forgetting it; it was the kind of dream that makes you want to call your friend and bore her with a detailed description.”

Meyer also said that Kim’s graphic interpretation of her characters and settings was nearly identical to what she was imagining while writing the series. “It takes me back to the days when I was writing Twilight,” she said. “It’s been a while since I was really able to read Twilight; there is so much baggage attached to that book for me now. It seems like all I can see are the mistakes in the writing. Reading Young’s version brought me back to the feeling I had when I was writing and it was just me and the characters again. I love that. I thank her for it.”

So fans, prepare for the next big addition to the Twilight world because it will no doubt be huge. You can pre-order it here.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
