Unholy Vamps

Here’s a Christian website talking about vampires. They lost me with the first two sentences, though. “As a culture we are obsessed with destructive monsters. I mean, how many vampire movies and TV shows do we really need?” This makes me want to respond in a not-so-Christian manner, but I try to avoid using the F-word on this and our sister sites werewolves.com and darkness.com because I know kids are reading them. Are we here going to have to deal with another one of those small-minded arrogant prigs out to demonize Horror and those who like it?

The guy goes on to preach a sermon about the way people use words, and how those words can be life-destroying. “When we attack each other verbally, we may as well be sucking the blood from one another like vampires,” he says. Or, as Saint Paul phrased it in his letter to the Galatians: “If you keep on biting and devouring each other, watch out or you will be destroyed/consumed by each other.” This is good advice, and a worthwhile message, especially these days and especially where the Internet is concerned. Unfortunately the writer alienated my affections before offering such advice by implying, whether he intended to do so or not, that there are too many vampire movies and TV shows. Howzabout you stick to offering advice on how people should interact socially and not worry about what we watch for entertainment, aight, brother-man?

Well, I do see that there are way too many horror & sex & drugs & ETC., films in this world, & they would truly draw people away from GOD if we allow ourselves to be obsessed with all that, & eventually lose sight of JESUS CHRIST all together. Way too many films are just plain filthy & evil & so stupid too! You wonder how they got to be films at all if they’re so stupid!
