Upcoming Vampire Book Printed With Real Blood

Yes, you read that title correctly. There is a new book coming out about vampires…printed with real human blood. The controversial book is Silentheart by Roberta Hoffer and it is due to hit bookshelves some time in November. Since this book is just coming into the open, exact dates and such details are a little sketchy at the moment. But we do know that a handful of copies of the book will be printed in blood, these copies wont be sold in stores though. And not only will you have books printed in blood but the author herself will also be signing books with her own blood at book signings. According to author Roberta Hoffer, “When I wrote Silentheart, I put my sweat and tears into it.  It’s only fitting that now I’m literally putting my blood into it.”

Once you have gotten over the initial shock of a book being printed in blood you probably start to wonder, “what the hell is the book even about?”  Well, the book is about a woman whose family is full of vampires. Not only her family though, but also the man she loves. Her vampire lover tries to give up his vampire life for her, with surprising consequences.

Sounds like a decent enough story, but you have to admit that there are countless stories out there that sound the same. The difference between those books and this new one is, of course, the blood. The blood bit will cause such a stir that it’ll give this book and nice publicity boost. We’ll just have to wait and see if it’s worthy of all the hype though. Personally I have high hopes.

Hoffer’s Silentheart is also aiming to catch the attention of the vampire community as well.  Drawing on “personal experiences,” apparently Hoffer’s vampires don’t conform to the typical vampire mold.

Now, as you can imagine this book is already causing a hell of a controversy storm. It hasn’t even been published yet and it’s already pissing people off. “Personally, I’m disgusted. I implore parents to keep their kids away from this filth,” said the Reverand T.E. Whiteman of the Decency League. “The book is an abomination against morality. We are working long hours to ban this book from every possible outlet.” I doubt he is the only one out there with plans like this. This book is going to stir a lot of questions like “is that even sanitary” and the likes. Heads will no doubt roll.

But what do you readers think? Good idea, bad idea, gross, cool? Leave a comment and let us know.

As I mentioned above we don’t have any exact dates for the book and it’s official website is currently under construction, but once we know more we’ll make sure to fill you in.

Update: The review for this book can be found here.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  3. I don’t think this is an “abomination against morality”. Assuming there’s no danger, I don’t see a problem with it. We donate our hair to cancer patients, we donate our organs to people that need them. If those things are normal then this is a stretch beyond that but I don’t see it as an abomination.

I’m not a “vampire” and I think vampirism is just play acting that people do, like furries or trekkies. It’s just a mental outlet but can be taken too far. I don’t think printing something in blood is too far, at least not in the sense that it needs to be prevented. Still weird though and I think it would be good for people that practice vampirism take a step back for a moment and consider how other people view it.

  4. I think that sounds completely AMAZING! Whoever says that the book is stupid or grotesque your CRAZY! Obviously Roberta Hoffer has put a lot of work into it, and people should respect that and shut up about it. If you think that’s stupid, then keep it to yourself. Don’t make anyone else who wants to read it suffer. ORELSE I’LL BITE YOU!!!! :-D

  5. well then why in the world did you write the freak’n book with yur own freak’n blood because i would never do that i would never even get close about thinking about that!!!

  6. I just think it’s a pathetic attempt at drumming up publicity for the release of her book.

    Weak.

This has given me an idea…

I think I’ll write a book about feces. Anyone want to attend the book signing?

  9. Has anyone read the actual novel? Didn’t think so; it’s not out yet. Why don’t we wait and read the novel before we make harsh accusations. From what I understand, it is a decent, clean, book that can be read by anyone with no offense. Vampires are the trend right now. Anyone see True Blood? Would you let your 14 year old daughter watch that?

  10. I don’t see a problem with this? If you don’t want to read it don’t buy it also if you don’t want your kids to read it do not give them the money to buy it( be a fucking parent and watch your kids for once)! I hear people complaining about kids buying or seeing the book well Barns and Noble has Kama Sutra books and I don’t see parents worried about that! It’s different and unheard of so people want to make a big stink about it! I say go for it I would like a copy I like different and interesting things! To all the people out there who have an offensive opinion, remember opinions are like assholes and no one wants to hear about yours!

  13. I cant wait to buy this book!
How does her lover try to give up being a vampire?
One of my last favorite series of books about a family of witches kept me company for years. I for one am looking forward to getting to know this new family.

  14. As the author of Silentheart, I must thank those who took the time to submit comments. Positive or negative, you took the time. The book is now on the market at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com and will soon be in book stores. Hopefully those interested in a good vampire story without all the foul language will like my book. So, even the teenagers can read this one. Yes, ladies, it is also a love story. And guys, it has plenty of evil in it as well. As for the blood…well…

  15. being part of the vampire community i’m very interested in this book to say the least, but knowing that i will not be buying a blood copy because i love reading and would rather not be distracted by the fact that it is written in something i crave.

    1. If you wish to order a book, it will not be written with blood, therefore, you will be able to read it and not be tempted to nibble. You can do so on amazon.com, authorhouse.com, barnesandnoble.com, or soon to be available on http://www.asilentheart.com The later will be selling personally signed copies!

  16. If vampire lovers can’t deal with the fact of blood-inked books, then they should not be reading books about vampires at all. People do way more disgusting things, and we should think of blood the same way as vampires: life force. Nothing more, nothing less. That it should stay inside one’s body? Yes, but then again we are all fans of watching it come out ;)
I like the idea. And it would be cool if R.Hoffer could get one of those pens the lawyers of Wolfram & Hart (Angel) used to sign contracts with hehe =P As for the content itself, I guess I’ll just have to read it first and see…

    1. Hilda, If you want to purchase the book, contact me at asilentheart.com. I will gladly send you a copy. It will not be signed in blood, however. Those copies were limited. But, I am certain you will enjoy it anyway!
      Thanks, R. Hoffer

  17. i personally want the book and i know alot of my friends would want it too(were into that kind of stuff. i hope i get one with blood for its ink, if people think its disturbing then dont think, dont talk, dont do anything with the book.

    1. well just because you didnt like the book dosent mean other people won’t so just shut up get over it, and also don’t say to ”go back to school and learn to write” because i bet any book that you write would suck ass.

  18. i think it is a cool idea and i wouldn’t mind getting my hands on a copy in blood, i don’t no why no-one has thought of it before.
i think evryone should shut up if they don’t like the idea, no-ones going to make them read it so they should stop trying to ruin it for others.
