Updates on John Karlen and Denise Nickerson
Good news first. John Karlen, who starred as Willie Loomis (among numerous other roles) on DARK SHADOWS and who recently suffered a stroke, has been discharged from the hospital and moved to a rehabilitation facility. He is reported to be doing much better. Fans who wish to send him a get-well card may do so by writing to John Karlen at Burbank Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center 1041 S Main St, Burbank, CA 91506. We wish John an even more speedy full recovery and hope that he is soon back home.
Unfortunately no news is not always good news, and this is the case with Denise Nickerson, who portrayed Amy Jennings, Nora Collins, and several other roles on DARK SHADOWS (as well as playing Violet in WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY). Denise, who also suffered a stroke, seems to be stuck in a sort of holding pattern, neither progressing nor regressing. Her family has made the decision to move her to a full-time care facility but have not yet been able to get her placed, and continue to struggle with her care at home. Hopefully they can find a place where Denise will be comfortable and content, and receive the medical care she requires.
