Vampire Books Coming June 2011

Hurray! It’s my favorite time of the month! It’s the day where we take a look at all of the fangtastic vampire books hitting bookshelves this month. June doesn’t have as many new vampire releases as past months, but in spite of that there are still quite a few great looking books coming our way. Check them out!

Verland: The Transformation by B.E. Scully
Verland is about true crime writer Elle Bramasol, who is drawn into a macabre mystery when incarcerated Hollywood producer Eliot Kingman asks her to write a book about his case. As she delves deeper into Kingman’s murder conviction, she discovers that he possesses a centuries old diary written by an elusive vampire named Verland. Uncovering the transformative secrets held within the diary’s pages, Elle is drawn deeper into both Kingman’s deadly schemes and Verland’s dark world of shadows.

Lock the house and protect your neck!

Chicks Kick Butt
An anthology about women kicking ass! This book features original stories from thirteen authors, eleven of whom are New York Times bestsellers. On top of being bestsellers, many of these authors also write fantastic vampire books, so it’s safe to assume a few of the stories in this book will be about vampires.

Bringing Light to Twilight: Perspectives on a Pop Culture Phenomenon by Giselle Liza Anatol
Yup, yet another totally overdone Twilight book. This one features essays on the Twilight Saga which take a deeper look into the series and its role in pop culture. The book costs about $60, so you’d have to be the BIGGEST most insanely obsessed fan EVER to buy this.

Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter) by Laurell K. Hamilton
In the 20th Anita Blake book word has leaked to Anita Blake that hit men are headed for St. Louis- and that she, Jean-Claude, and Richard are the targets. Hmmm, that’s a really short plot description, curious as to how that’s going to make an entire book. Ugh, I just hope it’s better than Bullet.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight Volume 8: Last Gleaming by Joss Whedon, Jane Espenson, Scott Allie and Georges Jeanty
In the comic continuation of Buffy, the eighth Season Finale is here, and Buffy must face the ultimate betrayal! Series creator Joss Whedon writes the final story arc of Buffy Season 8, taking his greatest characters to places only he can.

The Encyclopedia of Vampires and Werewolves by Rosemary Ellen Guiley
The Encyclopedia of Vampires and Werewolves, Second Edition provides more than 500 entries exploring the supernatural aspects of these creatures and their pop culture counterparts. Entries describe supposed true historical accounts, how vampires and werewolves come into existence, beliefs about vampires and werewolves, and real-life creatures and cases that may have inspired their legends. The most popular fictional vampires from a range of media are discussed, along with the people who helped create them. This new edition costs a ridiculous $85! Damn.
Coming out June 30, 2011.

As you can see, there really aren’t a lot of vampire books coming out this month, which is a shame. However, last month we were totally slammed with vampire books, so much so that I had to do two posts to cover them all, so maybe that’s why there are so few this June. Anyway, here’s hoping next month brings us way more than this month!

So, which June’s books are you most looking forward too?

By Moonlight

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
