Vampire Books That Would Rock As Movies!

Even though movies that are based on books are rarely accurate and tend to piss of most readers, we still love hearing that our favorite books are hitting the big screen – even if later we’re disappointed. Here’s a few vampire books that I would rush to see if they were ever in theaters.
Leave a comment below and let us know which books you’d like to see made into a movie.

Demon in My View by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes
One of my all time favorite young adult vampire novels! It’s a fast read and the story is fantastic yet not overly complicated, which would make it excellent for a movie (nothing would need to get cut out). The book follows Jessica, a high school senior who writes vampire tales under the pseudonym Ash Night. Life is fairly normal until a creature from her novel, the sexy vampire Aubrey shows up as a new student at her school and she learns that her supernatural stories are true. As she delves deeper into the dark world of her own novels she finally unearths the shocking truth that explains the reality of her imaginary world. If this were a movie I would see it on opening day!

Blood and Gold by Anne Rice

Blood and Gold tells the story of Marius, a two thousand year old vampire. Marius is still one of my favorite characters in The Vampire Chronicles and I would LOVE to see him have his own movie. However, making this long and epic book into one movie would be incredibly difficult. So if it were ever made into a film it would have to be done by the best of the best. Also, forming a solid plot would be a bit hard since the book is an autobiography.

Anita Blake Series by Laurell K. Hamilton

I would really love to see Anita kick ass on screen, but only the first few books in the series, you know, the ones with actual plots. The newest books are nothing more than unoriginal erotica, which would totally work as porn, but this post is about real movies. The first books in the series are amazing, I mean who wouldn’t want to see a movie about a strong and sexy vampire hunting necromancer kicking ass?

Evernight Series by Claudia Gray
I have enjoyed these books so far, I don’t love them, but they are ok. You may wonder why I would want them made into a movie, well, I think they would make MUCH better movies than books. Plus, the vampire lovin’ teens of the world would eat them up, after all it’s a vampire love story. This happens to me every now and then, I’ll read a book which isn’t bad, just blah, and think that it would be so much better if you could watch it rather than read it. Anyone else ever think that while reading certain books?

So yeah, my list is pretty unrealistic. Demon in my View is the only one that would be PERFECT as a movie, the others would be a bit more difficult to turn into a film, but I’d still love to see them on the big screen.

What about you folks, what books would you like to see made into a movie?

By Moonlight

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  3. Clarimonde by Theophile Gautier. Not Hollywood blockbuster material, but it would make GORGEOUS movie!
Carmilla. Set accurately in 19th century, with all the Gothic romance trappings and LeFanu´s plot and characters used.
Dracula, with fabulous style of 1992 remake BUT with Stoker´s characters.
Quite frankly, these three films I would like to see!

  5. Hmm… I always thought that Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde would make an interesting movie.

Any of Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’ books wouldn’t be bad though.
