Vampire-Con Film Festival is Back!

That’s right movie lovers, Vampire-Con Film Festival is returning for the third year! The film fest will take place at The New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles and is running for two nights. Two nights of classic fangtastic vampire flicks! Woo! Originally created to include ALL fans of vampires, Vampire-Con continues its tradition of showcasing the best vampire movies in the world. But the night doesn’t stop at just movies, for costumes are strongly encouraged and prizes will be given for the most creative. Makes me wish I lived in LA.

Anyway, here’s this year’s movie schedule:

Friday, June 3 – Totally 80’s Vampire Mash-up

7:30pm: Fright Night (1985): About a teenager who learns that his next door neighbor is a vampire, no one will believe him.

9:30pm: Vampire’s Kiss (1988): This old 80s flick stars Nicolas Cage and is about a publishing executive who thinks that he’s turning into a vampire after a bad run in with a neck-biter.

Saturday, June 4 – Saturday Night Vampire Fever

7:30pm: Blacula (1972): In this movie the coffin of an African prince bitten by Dracula is brought to Los Angeles, where the prince reawakens and begins to search for his long lost wife, all while leaving a bloody trail in his wake.

9:30pm: Scream Blacula Scream (1973): Blacula is back after a dying Voodoo queen chooses an adopted apprentice as her successor instead of her true heir. Seeking revenge, he buys the bones of Blacula off of a dealer and uses voodoo to bring the vampire back to do his bidding.

New Beverly Info: 7165 West Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90036 (one block west of La Brea) – 323.938.4038

What do you guys think? Will any of you who live in the area check out this year’s Vampire-Con? I’m too far away to go, but it’s a sweet idea. However, out of all of the amazing vampire movies out there I kind of wished they would have chosen a couple of different films this year.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
