Vampire Costume Mashup Time!

Vampire costumes are almost always the same every single Halloween and I vote we switch things up this year. I mean, seeing the same thing every year is so boring. It’s always women in tight corsets, skimpy skirts, overdone makeup and plastic fangs and men wearing big capes, fake fangs and far too much white face paint. It’s boring. So boring. Yeah yeah, they’re classics and you gotta give the classics some love, but I say we give them a break and try something new.

My idea: random vampire mashups! It’s fun, super easy and different. There are a million possibilities! Pick anything and turn it into a vampire! You don’t even have to be all that creative, you could just take another popular Halloween costume idea and mix it with a vampire. Simple!

Here are a few ideas:

Video Game Characters
Oh yes, vampiric video game characters! Picture Mario and Luigi in vampire form. Or Yoshi! Bahaha! You can get video game costumes at any costume shop, so all you have to do it pick one up, throw some fake blood on it, get a pair of fake fangs and you’re set.

Disney Characters
Disney princess costumes are also SUPER popular, especially with little girls (obviously), but why not turn your little princess into a something a little bloodthirsty and evil? There are so many good mashup ideas out there – vampire Cinderella, vampire Snow White, vampire Rapunzel… etc.

Pirates
I’ve seen loads of pirate costumes and loads of vampire costumes but never a combination of the two. Being a huge fan of Justin Somper’s Vampirates series I would LOVE to see a vampirate costume.

Historical Characters
Sure, you could dress up as a plain ol’ Spartan warrior or… you can be a vampiric Spartan! And come on, a vampire in shining armor is way cooler than a knight in shining armor! Ooh! You could be a vampire cowboy or a vampire gangster! Or famous nobility turned vampire (like Anne Boleyn).

Ok, writing this turned me into a hyperactive 6-year-old. As you can see, the possibilities are endless. You can turn any costume into a vampire costume with a cheap pair of fangs and some fake blood.

What are some of your vampire costume mashup ideas? Let me know in a comment below.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  1. At work on Halloween, I wear my normal work uniform and fangs.
Some people don’t notice at all, some compliment my fangs, and my favorite are the people who give me a brief odd stare but are afraid to say anything…
