Vampire Film ‘Priest’ is Finally Being Released!
So you might remember about a year ago, a lot of hype about the vampire movie ‘Priest’, which was due to come out in August 2010, –and that was actually its postponed release date, supposedly it was due to come out in spring of that year. So now, a year later, Priest is finally due to be released in May. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, we have goodies for you: synopsis, pics, and eee, two new trailers. And, one of my favorite actors is going to play the lead role, –Paul Bettany, –who had my heart since he played Geoffrey Chaucer in A Knight’s Tale. Being a massive nerd, this introduced me to my delirious affection for Alan Tudyk (you know, Wash, in Firefly) too. But anyway, after that stroll through Memory Lane, we need get back to important things, like the fact that Paul Bettany, who was once a sexy angel in Legion, is now going to be playing a renegade priest who kicks major vampire ass.
These are bad vampires, not gooey sparkly ones, and that’s a plus right there. Because while I get a rise out of the occasional vampire romance, I also like to see them get their asses kicked. Especially when they’re naughty. Ahem. There’s a synopsis up on DreadCentral, –and it’s much better than the partial one released in 2010, btw:
“Set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires, Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Gigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.”
It sounds like the best actor in the whole flick is Bettany, –which I’m fine with, since this will be a good chance for him to walk like the god he is among the ants. Sorry. Fan-girl is having a hard time controlling herself; but it is going to be great to finally see this guy fight vampires, which of course, is what his career has been leading up to. No, I’m serious! See, for a while, people thought that angels were going to be the new trend, –so it’s only fitting that Bettany, former angel, will now be in a vampire picture. Since apparently, vampires won the war against angels. At least in terms of popular trend for films and novels. I have one trailer above, and another below, tell us what you think. Is the vampire trend ready for slayage? Or would you rather see more vampires making out with moody high school girls? The vampires in this flick are really hardcore nasty. Check out the trailer… there’s like.. slime.
