Vampireology Review and CONTEST!

Yes, you read that title correctly. There’s a new addition to the famous Ology series – Vampireology! And I have a box full of them to give away (see bottom for details)!

The Ologies are a series of beautifully illustrated fantasy books presented in a fictional encyclopedic manner. They are meant to look like a real diary or old journal. They have actual hand written notes, slots filled with goodies, real “dragon skin” to feel and more. You may have read some of the others like Dragonology, Pirateology, Wizardology – but none quite like Vampireology.

Explore (if you dare) the true history of the Fallen Ones — and follow the fate of a 1920s investigator lured by a beauty with violet eyes.

Long before the term vampire was born, long before Bram Stoker fictionalized this being’s ways, blood-drinking demons were banished to Earth by Michael’s host of Angels, or so the Bible describes. Now this rich, mesmerizing resource, written in 1900, sheds light on what happened hence to the three vampire bloodlines — especially the tortured souls known as the Belial. Interspersed are booklets, flaps, and letters between a young paranormal researcher who discovered the book in the 1920s and an oddly alluring woman who seeks his help. Among the phenomena explored are:

* vampires’ genealogical origins, attributes, and range
* myths about the making of vampires
* secrets of vampires’ powers and shape-shifting skills
* tips for spotting vampires, protecting oneself, and fighting back
* case studies of famous vampires — and vampire hunters — through history
* a shocking overview of vampires “living” among us

The moment I picked this book up I was filled with that child-like giddiness and excitement. I absolutely love books like this! I spent hours pouring over every inch of every page, playing with all the hidden goodies, staring at the breathtaking artwork, running my fingers over dragon scales and pearls and reading every fantastic word.

Once you open the cover you can’t help but get lost in the beauty of this epic world of the undead. The creators put so much effort into making Vampireology, that I am stunned with how much there is to explore and discover (there are even a few hidden laughs in there). On top of the splendor, there is a fantastic story that absolutely captivates you, and the amazing thing is, the author mixed real vampire myths and legends in with the story. Many of the legends and lore we have discussed on this site, from various vampire species, to methods for destroying a vampire, to historical vampires …etc. have been placed into the book and mixed in with the story. It’s incredible; I can’t even imagine how much research went into it all.

As I am sure you have guessed, I am totally in love with Vampireology. It goes above and beyond my expectations and delivers in every way. This book is great for anyone – from the grown up adults to the imaginative children, everyone can appreciate something in this addition to the Ology collection.

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).
