Vampires and… Batman?

When DC Comics announced the reboot of 52 classic comics, including I, Vampire, I was beyond excited – until I learned that there isn’t a single comic book shop near me, then I felt all kinds of sad. That sadness has grown significantly after learning that the upcoming sixth issue of I, Vampire features a guest appearance from Batman himself. Curse you comic shop gods!

Now, I’ll be honest, I’m not actually a fan of Batman. It’s true, I think he is a lame superhero. I know I know, loads of people love him because he’s just a normal guy like all of us and he saves the day with no super powers. But personally, I find his lack of super powers boring (there’s a reason I’m freakishly obsessed with X-Men). But in spite of my distaste for Batman, the idea of him battling it out with vampires is badass. The superhero gets a few awesome points from me for it.

Here’s the cover art and official plot synopsis for I, Vampire #6:

“It’s a shock ending you won’t see coming! Guest star Batman grudgingly helps Andrew fight the Queen of Blood, who has taken over Gotham City with her army of vampires! But Mary’s going to lose something dear to her in the process! Come see why the Internet is raving about this great new series that mixes Super Heroes and horror!”

Bahaha vampires are taking over Gotham! Yes! I may have to cave in and download the digital version of I, Vampire, even though I despise the vast majority of digital comics.

Issue #6 featuring Batman will go on sale February 22, 2012. Make sure to pick up a copy of it at your local comic book shop, because unlike me, you probably have one nearby. Grrr.

What do you guys think about Batman mixing it up with vampires?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  2. It’s not the first time that Batman encounter vampires, you know ? There’s stories like Batman & Dracula : Red Rain, where the Gotham justicier fight against Dracula and his legions (and became himself a vampire), or stuff like Batman and the Mad Monk.

I’m curious about the crossover you’re talking of (even if i’ve never read I vampire).

    1. Yeah, we have a few old posts on here about Batman and vampires. It’s been a long while since they’ve mixed him up with vamps though :)
