Watch the Real Vampires of New Orleans

We have delved into the world of real vampires many a time here on Vampires.com. We have discussed psychic vampires and the various types of energy they feed upon; we have also covered sanguinarian vampires, those who feed on the blood of willing donors in order to maintain health. But reading about the real vampires of the world can only reveal so much – why not watch them as they live their vampiric lives? A webseries titled “Vampires” follows both sanguinarian and psychic vampires in New Orleans. Currently in its first season, the show reveals the truth behind these individuals.

About the show:

“Vampire myths date back for centuries–from ancient vampiric gods to the Knights Templar.

Today, ancient myths have melded with pop culture in a unique subculture: people who believe they too are Vampires. These vampire subcultures manifest in cities all over the world, each subculture uniquely influenced by the culture that surrounds it.

What if there were a show that followed the lives of real vampires all over the world? That’s exactly what this project does. Around the world there are people who really do feed off the energy–and the blood–of others to get through their everyday lives. They have communities in New York, New Orleans, Paris and many other major cities. The first part of the series follows one such community in New Orleans. They let us into their lives: their jobs, how they “feed,” their code of ethics, and how the community works. We examine the vampire myths of New Orleans and the real vampire community there, finding familiar stories and unexpected realities.”

To watch Vampires: New Orleans you can go HERE to their official website or HERE to their Blip page.

What are your thoughts on this show? Have you already seen it? If so, what did you think?  How do you real vampires here feel about a show that delves into your world?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  3. I enjoy watching the show every Tuesday. It’s beyond gratifying to see the vampyre community portrayed in their true light. We do quite a bit of charity work in New Orleans and elsewhere.

  5. I watched the first show and I think if one wants to live as a vampire it is fine. The teeth are great, but I think life would be hard. A place like New Orleans would probably be a lot easier to be a vampire than Virginia.

  6. It would be cool if vampires really do exist, if so i want to become one of the existance of your kind.i really would like to also be a vampire.theyre 100% cool.i feel like i belong in their kind.if it could happen find me and change me im in gastonia nc.thank you..you can alao email me just find me is what i want

    1. Unfortunately it isn’t very cool to be a Vampire. I haven’t actually had a Blood donor in almost 5 years and the little bits I get do not last; it can be hell on your body and I seem to always be tired and half asleep for long periods of time. There isn’t enough people around my area to keep me going and I cant afford a car or to move…

  7. Interesting but rather bland. I was hoping to see more about the feeding and less about their day-to-day minutia.

  8. Hello,
I think that lady jezabel is overly devoted in the belief of vampirism to the point that she almost or whorships them and I feel that the priedt or preacher in the video sees it this way also. Remember whatever we desire we must never desire it so much that we forget to put god first. God is a very jealous god and he will have no other before him. I am not meaning to sound like a hypocrite and I hope I do not, but, I am into dark drow-drider’s, I call all dark drows of the underground world the name dark drow-drider’s because this means a being; a drow that’s been angered or provoked beyond the point of anger by an enemy in the upper world or an ally of a drow house in the underground world. I also write novels and have one children’s book on a ten year old spider centaur named carmyn legget, so you see I have my own desires of a mythical creature I am into also, but I know I am to only like it to a certain extinct. Dracula nor the DROW is real, both are fictional and magical dark characters of the human mind and we must all abide by this and keep it too this degree in life. I really enjoy reading all dracula books and movies and I really enjoy reading up on drows and I want for the dark drow-drider’s one day to do the same thing that bram stoker did for dracula make all drows history. I feel to that there should be no shame or criticism to or about one who believe in supporting what they desire in any type of fictional character just as long as they don’t forget the character is only myth. I also found out that dracula and the dark drows are linked, family. I want to say rise, rise, and more rising in the world to both dracula and the dark drows!

    1. @ andrea marie norwood: And I thought according to the Judeo-Christian god being jealous was a sin according to the 10th commandment:

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

including his god or anything he places above you; Coveting is jealous – there is your hypocrisy

      1. I think I understand your point and if I sound like a hypicrite I am sorry, but I just think she is going too far with vampire. I always have like watching dark characters and I wish much success forthe vampire and I hope also that my kind of character will rise in the world of literature to gain popularity and much success too.

    2. Let me tell you, vampyres are strong, independent people. While some of us are Christians, many are our own god (like me) and we bow down to no one – we are antinomian.

  9. Another show, how strange! I don’t know, I am interested in it but not enough to watch it. I know, sad right? I don’t have wifi where I am staying. I don’t think they could portray me in any kind of manner. Hah. I am just very different. lol

  10. I’ve enjoyed watching Vampires: New Orleans, because it is reality TV.
The very antithesis of the carefully staged so-called “reality” shows such as “Survivor” and its descendents “Bachelor(ette)”, “Jersey Shore”, etc.

My fave is Episode Three, where gay voodoo vampire (!!) Zaar feeds from his young hatchet-man-tattooed donor.

PS: Gay Voodoo Vampires = awesome would-be band name! …. >;^]
