To get in a little review, WONDER WOMAN 1984 is fantastic. And it has a vampire in it. Sorta.
I caught the film in the theater, the way it was meant to be enjoyed. (There were maybe a half-dozen other people in the place so I had no problem in maintaining my safe social distancing, and all those present were wearing masks until we got to our widely-separated seats.) In addition to all the benefits that come with viewing such a film in the theater there came an extra one: I got to see the trailer for MORBIUS on the big screen. I am more excited than ever to see that one now. It looks so good.
Back to Wonder Woman. There’s a minor SPOILER WARNING here, so be aware. After Maxwell Lord becomes fused with the magical stone and his health takes the hit—the stone grants any wish, but it takes something of great value in exchange; it took Cheetah’s humanity; it took Diana’s powers; and it took a physical toll on Maxwell Lord—he begins to supplement that health by syphoning it from the people whose wishes he is granting, taking their lifeforces in exchange. It gets only a brief mention but he says it, and that makes him a vampire. For a little while, he becomes Colin Robinson from WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS, just omega-level powerful.
