Your Thoughts on The Vampire Diaries ‘My Brother’s Keeper’

After a short break The Vampire Diaries has returned! Yay! Episode 4.07, “My Brother’s Keeper,” just aired and it was another excellent episode, one packed full of Klaroline moments. Check out my thoughts on the episode below, and make sure to share yours as well.

Official episode description for “My Brother’s Keeper:”

“THE MISS MYSTIC FALLS PAGEANT — Caroline (Candice Accola) does her best to be there for Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) in a tough time. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tries to convince Stefan to help him uncover Prof. Shane’s (guest star David Alpay) motives, but Stefan is intent on carrying out a different plan with Klaus (Joseph Morgan). At the annual Miss Mystic Falls Pageant, Elena and Caroline give April (guest star Grace Phipps) advice on which dress to wear, while Tyler (Michael Trevino) and Hayley (guest star Phoebe Tonkin) work together on a secret project, and Damon confronts Prof. Shane with his suspicions. Alarmed by the vivid nightmares he’s having, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) turns to Matt (Zach Roerig) for help, but the situation escalates sooner than anyone expected. Olympic Gold Medalist Gabrielle Douglas also makes an appearance.”

So much happened this episode – SO much! Most importantly the big reveal at the end, that Elena is sire bonded to Damon! Love it! I hated Elena going back and forth and back and forth between Damon and Stefan, but this time there is an actual reason for it, a real reason, and not her just being lame and indecisive. She’s bonded to him. Hurray for explanations! There was also the whole Jeremy thing, mixed with Shane, the cure, apparently the hybrids and more. Interested in seeing where that’s all going. All I know now is I don’t like Shane and I hate Hayley. I also didn’t like Stefan in this episode, he’s so dead set on having the old Elena. I did dig the Delena sexy times though. But I wish there had been Klarolina sexy times .

Here are a few things from the episode that I liked and didn’t like:

Likes:

  • The relationship between Caroline and Stefan. I think it’s awesome.
  • The exchanged looks between Damon and Elena.
  • Matt helping out Jeremy.
  • Caroline and Klaus getting along. I wish there had been more spark though.
  • Elena moving in with Damon. And the sexy scenes that follow.

Dislikes:

  • How everyone seems to have forgotten than Damon and Caroline slept together. Never comes up. Oh well. No biggie.
  • Stefan being a dick to Damon, when for once, Damon is trying to be super supportive.
  • Stefan turning evil people – horrible idea!
  • Stefan forcing Jeremy’s hand in the hunting thing.
  • HAYLEY! I knew from the start that she was shady. I hate her, I hope she gets killed off.

What did you think of the episode?

  1. Overall I was into the episode, but I’m sorry, the Elena/Damon sirebond is just a lame copout so they can split them up and put her and Stephan back together without too much outrage. I’m skick of the flip-flopping for any reason. It’s too bad that it’s such a cornerstone of the show. I love both the brothers (with Damon my #1), and I wish that they had more of a reason for being than meh Elena.

Other han that, I pretty much agree with you. I forgot that Caroline slept with Damon too! It feels like a million years ago! I can’t stand d-bag Stefan… AGAIN. I’m so up and down with him, even though I really love him over all. His single-minded determination to “fix” Elena is just wrong. I’m sorry, if he can’t accept her as she is now, whatever his excuse, than he doesn’t really love HER, only his vision of what she should be.

Oh, gods, I can’t believe I’m engaging in SHIP TALK! LOL

  4. Wow. This episode was mindblowing. I can understand Stefan wanting the cure for Elena because he hates himself as a vampire and he doesn’t want her going threw that pain. The problem I have turning a murderer into a vampire just so Jeremy could kill him. Elena wouldn’t want that for her brother just so she could get the cure. I have read in other book series about sire bonds, but they were like warnings to each other if one was in danger the other would know. I have never heard of this bond before and I don’t Elena will like it when she finds out. She hates to be controlled and unable to make her own decisions. The vampire sex was mindblowing but wished it was Elena and Stefan. Oh well. I can still hope.

  5. I know this is super late but just want to throw inmy two cents. I have not forgoten that Damon slept with Caroline and while Elena does her best to pretend it didn’t happen I don’t think Caroline can forget or forgive so easily. Let’s not pretend to see what it was- an older (much much older) man taking advantage of a teenage girl! I’ll admit that I can’t recall if Caroline was compelled from the start or if she was just a fast girl (probably the latter) but at some point she was compelled by Damon and that in itself is just sick as far as I’m concerned. This is where her hatred of Damon stems from among many other selfish careless, disgusting things he is responsible for. I think as much as she is drawn to Klaus, Caroline can’t get past the horrible things he’s done to the people she cares about. Elena too often and too easily forgives Damon. This is what makes Caroline the more loyal friend than Elena could hope to be. In one episode Klaus asked how Damon gets Elena to forgive him all the time and Damon responded with, “I do bad things for a reason, you just do them to be a d***.” The thing of it is that while Damon feels no remorse and makes no apologies, Klaus seems to deeply regret the hurt and damage he causes on impulse almost immediately after he has acted without thinking. Damon is the real d*** while Klaus acts out from a place of hurt.
