Your Thoughts on The Vampire Diaries ‘We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street’

Another episode of The Vampire Diaries has come to pass. In “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street” we finally got answers on the sire bond, we got some flashbacks and we saw some werewolf action go down. Check out my thoughts on the episode below and share your own!

Description for “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street:”

“A FLASHBACK TO NEW ORLEANS IN 1942 — When Stefan ({Paul Wesley) confronts Damon (Ian Somerhalder) with a suspicion about Elena (Nina Dobrev), Damon has no choice but to help Stefan investigate. Searching for answers, Damon and Stefan visit modern day New Orleans to see if they can find anyone who remembers the events of their last visit in 1942, including one of Damon’s former flames, Charlotte (guest star Madeline Zima). Elena, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Bonnie (Kat Graham) share a girls’ night while the Salvatore brothers are out of town, and emotions run high when Elena delivers some shocking news. At Hayley’s (guest star Phoebe Tonkin) urging, Tyler (Michael Trevino) confronts one of Klaus’ hybrids, Kimberly (guest star Alyssa Diaz), and the situation quickly escalates into violence. Finally, Damon is faced with a heartbreaking decision. Jesse Warn directed the episode written by Charlie Charbonneau & Jose Molina (#408).”

Overall, this was actually a pretty uneventful episode. It felt like filler, nothing of significance happened. They learned the truth about the sire bond, which is great, but we don’t know yet if Damon goes through with it or not. Tyler had some werewolf action go down, but what was the point of all that? I’m sure it will have a future role, but this whole episode was a setup for future episodes. It was blah.

Here are a few likes and dislikes from this episode:

  • The music choices for this episode. VD usually has some awesome musical picks.
  • The sire bond has been confirmed.
  • Flashbacks!

  • Hayley! Ahhhhh! Hate! I hate the professor too.
  • Over-promotion of drinking… again. There are even internet memes all over mocking the insane amount of drinking that happens in this show.
  • The truth on how to break the sire bond – it made me sad!

What did you think of the episode?

Moonlight (aka Amanda) loves to write about, read about and learn about everything pertaining to vampires. You will most likely find her huddled over a book of vampire folklore with coffee in hand. Touch her coffee and she may bite you (and not in the fun way).

  2. I already knew the professor was a bad guy, but I did like how we found out what he was teaching Bonnie was beyond black magic.
