The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have just released a new guideline for what to do to best survive a zombie apocalypse. Good timing, innit? Why now? Well, that’s kinda obvious, isn’t it? We’re still in a pandemic. The CDC explains it thusly: “Wonder why zombies, zombie apocalypse, and zombie preparedness continue to live or walk dead on a CDC web site? As it turns out what first began as a tongue-in-cheek campaign to engage new audiences with preparedness messages has proven to be a very effective platform. We continue to reach and engage a wide variety of audiences on all hazards preparedness via ‘zombie preparedness’”. In other words, they’re using entertainment to teach some important real-world lessons. As you might expect, the conspiracy wackadoos have a different take. To hear them tell it, the new coronavirus vaccine is going to turn people into mindless living zombies of the sort featured in the film 28 DAYS LATER. And the CDC is sneakily trying to prepare people for it by putting out these helpful tips. Seems to me it would be more helpful to tell people NOT to take the vaccine if they already know it’s going to turn people into mindless zombies of the sort featured in the film 28 DAYS LATER, rather than offering pointers on how to survive the apocalypse when it happens. But maybe that’s just me.
